My own photographs from travel to the Southwest, Saratoga Springs, New York, Italy and Ireland all serve as an inspiration for the ever changing textures created by painting on gesso. Recreating these landscapes, scenes, and images keeps alive the memories of the beautiful places I have been fortunate enough to visit.
Presently I am working on a series of Iris paintings which I will transfer to fabric to create a quilt design, another one of my passions which also include pottery, batik, and calligraphy.
Art style, methods, medium, and subject:
Painting on gesso responds to experimentation and fuels my creative expression. It enables me to create unusual and surprising effects and textural qualities that cannot be achieved with regular watercolor.
